JAMESTOWN, S.C. – In an effort to continue preserving the history and natural resources
of Oceda Plantation, the owners of the property have decided to limit the use of this pristine piece of land to current and
future property owners and the private hunting and fishing club annual members, whose use is limited hunting and fishing.
“We regret that we will not be able to offer this historical
piece of nature to the general public,” the ownership group said. “However, after much thought and consideration,
we believe limiting the use of the property to current and future property owners and annual hunting and fishing club members
would serve the property’s best interest."
Oceda Plantation is a part of the original Lenud’s Ferry Plantation, located on the northern
bank of the Santee River, two miles north of Jamestown, S.C. Lenud’s Ferry Plantation was the center of trade between
the Oceda and other Indian tribes of the Santee River Delta. During the last four years while undergoing enhancements to the
property, a number of Revolutionary War and earlier period artifacts were uncovered.
Anyone who has made deposits or paid any fees to Oceda Plantation will be provided full refunds.
